Hello! 

We’re Dave and Jackie Bos — a California girl and a Michigan boy combining our Napa Valley expertise with Northern Michigan’s blossoming wine scene. Together, we’re proud to share wines deeply connected to both regions at the BOS Wine Garden, our cozy tasting room in downtown Elk Rapids.

Our journey began in Napa, where Dave was the biodynamic vineyard manager at Grgich Hills Estate and Jackie worked as a senior project manager at a landscape architecture firm. In 2008, we married and envisioned building a business that combined our passions and skills. With Dave’s deep experience in biodynamic farming and Jackie’s design and project management expertise, we launched a vineyard consulting business that soon grew into something more. In 2010, we created BOS Wine, debuting with just 48 cases of our Phoenix Ranch Syrah, sourced from some of the finest vineyards in California.

Throughout this journey, Dave maintained strong ties to Northern Michigan, collaborating with industry friends and staying inspired by the region’s emerging potential. We visited often, watching the area blossom into a dynamic wine region with the same promise we had seen in Napa’s early days.

When the time came to decide where to raise our family and grow our business, the answer became clear:
“Why not Traverse City?”

Now rooted in Michigan, we are excited to bring the best of both worlds to BOS Wine, crafting exceptional wines from California and Michigan grapes and sharing our passion with the community we’ve always loved.

Jackie Bos

Jackie Bos is a creative force behind Bos Wine, combining her background in landscape architecture and graphic design to craft the winery's distinct labels and brand identity. A California native, Jackie met her husband Dave in Napa, where they shared a dream of building a winery together. Since co-founding Bos Wine in 2010, she has developed bold, simple designs that reflect the couple’s journey, with circles as a recurring motif inspired by the landscape and their story. Her innovative work includes an alchemy wheel on the back of many labels, visually showcasing the biodynamic principles central to their farming. Now living in Elk Rapids, Michigan, Jackie continues to merge artistry with storytelling, helping to elevate Bos Wine in the state’s burgeoning wine scene.

 

 

Dave Bos

David Bos is a seasoned biodynamic farmer, consultant, and winemaker with deep roots in the wine industry. A Michigan native, Dave began his career at Chateau Grand Traverse before heading to Napa Valley, where he worked as a vineyard manager at Grgich Hills Estate for over 9 years. There, he spearheaded the conversion of the estate’s vineyards to biodynamic farming, a practice he later shared with other vineyards as a consultant.

Dave is a pioneer in Michigan's wine industry, working with vineyards and small growers to elevate the region's farming practices and wine quality. Passionate about farming and winemaking, Dave’s mission is to create exceptional wine and inspire biodynamic and organic practices for future generations.

Elizabeth Serrano

We are thrilled to have Elizabeth on our team as our Operations & Wine Club Manager. You will see her smiling face often at BOS Wine Garden and hear from her through our digital communications. 

She grew up in Holland, Michigan (she's Dave's sister!) and after marrying her husband, moved to Chicago where she further developed her love for food and wine. Her background in project management and supply chain management, alongside her love of wine, is an asset to the team as we continue to build our wine club program. Elizabeth is also a sommelier!

 

 

  

Trinet Sailor

Trinet is our amazing Hospitality & Tasting Room Manager. She is WSET 2 certified, a Certified Sommelier, and truly passionate about the world of beverages. Whether it's wine or spirits, Trinet loves exploring new flavors. Her favorite BOS Wine is Amber. When she's not sipping on her favorite drinks, she enjoys embracing everything summer has to offer. Trinet and her three boys are proud members of the Elk Rapids community. 

Trinet is a constant breath of fresh air and we're so grateful to have her on our team!

Betsy Hiatt

Betsy is WSET 2 certified and a Certified Sommelier. In addition to all of her wine studying, she also studies psychology. She loves traveling, staying busy, and learning all about wine. Her favorite BOS Wine is DEO. 

Betsy's attention to detail and love of wine bring so much to the BOS Wine table and we're so lucky to have her! 

 

Jacob Puff

Jacob honed his skills at Chateau Grand Traverse for nearly five years, and now he's bringing his wine expertise and infectious passion to our crew.

With his WSET Level 2 Certification, Jacob's all about the educational side of wine and sharing his love for it. He believes that wine is best enjoyed with good company, and right now, he's crushing on All That is Gold Riesling and Methode Agricole.
